Complex PTSD Therapy in Austin

And virtually throughout Texas

You survived something that was volatile and terrifying. Even though you are grown up now, your body may still be living in the past

Your body learned to survive. Now it can learn to feel safe.

Complex trauma can cause us to feel like we are alone, that we are the only ones feeling the way we do, or that something is fundamentally “wrong” with us. In our work together we will gently build a sense of safety together and that is often the first step to building that feeling of safety within yourself.

I want you to know the feeling of safety and connection with yourself and in relationships. Somatic therapy is beautiful for CPTSD because of how it helps you to reconnect with yourself which allows you to really feel how much beauty and power is within you. It is easy to miss the goodness when we feel broken and dark inside, but I promise that there is so much more there.

Healing from CPTSD is a gentle, slow practice and it is not an overnight journey. While it is not easy, it is so worth it.

What CPTSD feels like on a daily basis for many women

  • You feel most calm when you are needed and most anxious when you are still.

  • Conflict does not just upset you. It empties you out for days.

  • You read faces for a shift in mood before you register your own feelings.

  • Your body tightens at a certain tone of voice, even from someone safe.

  • Sometimes you feel frozen, but inside you are swirling with fear and overwhelm.

  • You apologize before you know what for.

  • Rest makes you uneasy. Being still is too uncomfortable.

  • You have tension, gut issues, jaw pain, or fatigue with no clear medical cause.

  • You cannot make a decision without imagining who it will disappoint.

  • Good things make you brace, because good things have always come with a bill.

  • You react first and quickly before your brain can catch up.

None of this is a personal flaw, even though it can feel that way. It means that your nervous system learned the world required constant readiness and it hasn’t gotten the signal that it can relax and rest.

We work with your nervous system and body because that is how you start to build a sense of safety inside. You deserve to feel cared for and supported as you navigate your healing journey.
