Somatic Psychotherapy for Women In Austin

Your body learned to survive.
Now it can learn to feel safe.

I offer somatic psychotherapy in Austin, and virtually throughout Texas, for women ready to befriend their body and tap into safety, wisdom and deep connection.

A woman with long brown hair wearing a light-colored sweater, standing outdoors against a wooden fence, with her right hand placed over her chest.
A large tree with an intricate, twisting trunk and branches, sunlight shining through the leaves, creating a starburst effect.
A tree with strong roots laughs at storms.
— Malay proverb

Your nervous system learned to stay ready, for the next blow-up, the next withdrawal, the next thing you couldn't predict. That readiness helped you survive, and we honor everything it has done to get you here, but it's exhausting to carry into a life that doesn't actually require it anymore.

I help women gently excavate through old stories, beliefs and experiences to find the real you, reconnecting with your body and the inner parts of you that weren't "allowed". In this work we show all parts of you the love and acceptance you have always deserved. This work is about finding safety within yourself, so that your body can finally settle and put down roots.

When we build the safety and capacity to tap into the wisdom of our bodies, we find our deep well of power, creativity, connection, and compassion.

Sarah Stasica, LCSW

I come to this work as a licensed clinical social worker, a trauma-informed yoga teacher, and a former doula. Before I studied any of it clinically, I experienced firsthand how disconnected we can become from our own bodies, in birth, in motherhood, in daily life as we are surviving what we were born into. The work I do with clients treats the body as the place healing happens.

Specialties

Complex PTSD

Complex PTSD is trauma built up over years, not a single event. This may look like childhood abuse, early medical experiences, emotional neglect, and/or having a parent with mental illness or substance abuse.

Medical Trauma

Informed by my work with Medical Trauma Support, medical trauma is an experience or series of experiences in the medical system that felt scary or traumatic. Stressful medical experiences can have significant impacts on our bodies and nervous systems.

Motherhood

I work with mothers breaking generational patterns. It can be so exhausting to mother differently than you were raised while navigating your own healing journey.

Virtual Therapy Across Texas. Walk and Talk Therapy in Austin.

I don’t have anyone I can trust, I feel so alone even with people around me.

Do any of these thoughts sound familiar? If so, you’re in the right place. Together we will work on these beliefs, see where they came from, and through somatic work be able to let them go at a deep level.

I’m afraid there is something wrong with me, why do I feel like this?
I’m afraid to be happy because I know that the other shoe will drop and something bad will happen.
I told myself that I would parent differently, but I find myself reacting just like my parents did. It feels like I just lose control.

We move at the speed of safety.

Trauma-informed, somatic therapy for women ready to come home to themselves.
