About Sarah
Sarah Stasica, LCSW
I come to this work as a licensed clinical social worker, a trauma-informed yoga teacher, and a former doula. This all informs how I show up with you. I bring a regulated nervous system and a sense of my own internal safety which allows me to be deeply present with you as you navigate hard things.
My experience as the client in therapy changed my life and inspired me to become a therapist. I experienced firsthand how disconnected we can become from our own bodies, and I also experienced the power of somatic therapy and befriending my body.
I am based in Austin, Texas and offer virtual therapy throughout Texas as well as walk and talk therapy in Austin.
How I work
I work from a person-centered foundation, the belief that you are already the expert on your own life, and that healing happens when you're met with genuine warmth, curiosity and compassion.
From there, I draw on Somatic Experiencing and Internal Family Systems (IFS) among other modalities. Somatic Experiencing is about slowing down, understanding what your nervous system is doing for you, and connecting with your body. IFS guides us to connect with all the parts of you and welcome them to the table to be seen and understood.
The work that I do with clients moves in stages meant to help you build a sense of safety before going deeper. First we start with understanding your nervous system, learning to trust your own body again, building capacity to stay present, and finding out what it takes to nourish and sustain it.

Therapy doesn't have to be heavy all the time. If we laugh in a session, that's not us getting off track, that's part of what safety actually feels like.
